Here I Am Again

I’m trying to keep up a regular blogging schedule; once per week, if possible. I do post weekly word metrics on our Perfect Coven blog every week after our Skype-&-Write sessions, but I can’t bring myself to believe that that counts.

It’s hard to write when you can’t figure out what you want to write about; there are topics galore, but nothing is filling my head with words that need to come out of my fingers.

Ewww. That actually sounds pretty gross. Sorry.

I’m in a state where I know no one. Most All of my social interaction comes from email, Skype, and an occasional phone call these days. I spend most of the day alone, bowing to the will of the Iron Paw (canine). Weekends are spent running about, still trying to make our space livable or dealing with disasters, like the Great Basement Flood of Last Week. That was no fun; we were out doing some grocery shopping when tornado sirens went off. Der Mann is from the Midwest, so he parked the cart and dragged me home, where we collected Vinny and Boon and hid in the basement. There were no tornados in our area, just heavy rain, the majority of which I swear came in through our basement window. We spent two days mopping it up, drying out the basement, then the weekend looking for storage shelves to keep the boxes we have stored down there off the floor. Then there was the putting together and the shifting and the rearranging…ugh. So while it was an adventure, it wasn’t a happy one.

What I’m saying is, basement floods aside, I don’t have much happening right now. Trying to find a job, trying to do some writing, all that makes for a boring blog.

I suppose I could write about the antics of the Iron Paw, but he’s already such a dictator, I don’t want to fuel his delusions. Der Mann and I are in discussion about acquiring another cat, because Iron Paw, Jr. (the feline) gets bored and Iron Paw (the canine) doesn’t like to play cat games. I’d like to do it and get her integrated into the household before I go to work. I think it will be easier that way.

Der Mann has decided that he’s going to make me a worktop for the basement (where all my supplies are in no-longer-soggy boxes), so I can begin to make again. That makes me happy. I’m looking forward to it because I need to do something with my hands. I want to start on my meditation box ideas and see how they turn out. I’ll post pictures of the process when I get started.
